Paramedics in BC are outraged, this government has zero respect for the civil rights of the people that live and work here.
We as paramedics have had our right to fair bargaining taken from us. This Government has robbed us of our right to live above the poverty line. Bill 21 is no different than spitting in our faces.
We have served this province and this Government, with promises that everything will get better and our small communities will always be protected.
This government expects trained emergency service professionals to work for less money than it costs for many paramedics to drive themselves to work.
Paramedics pray and wait for people to get sick and injured, to hopefully make enough money to pay that months bills and still feed themselves.
Paramedics have been on strike since April 1 and have still done everything in their powers to provide a professional and timely emergency response service to our communities.
This government's choice to disrespect each and every paramedic in this province is unforgivable. I am sad to say, You have lost the most loyal employee's that this government had.
I was proud to be a Paramedic. Now my heart will no longer be in my job. My pride will no longer be in my work. I will continue to serve my community but I can no longer pretend to represent this province as one of its paramedics.
I only hope that many of you will write to this Government and this paper and share your disgust for the treatment of those who serve you.
