Fernie native ski racer Emily Brydon’s bib from the Cortina World Cup ski race two weeks ago raised $255 in an ebay auction for Haiti.
Brydon joined the rest of the men and women ski racers in signing her bib for an auction to raise money for earthquake victims. In total, over $90,000 was raised through the auction.
The highest earner was Hahnenkamm race winner Didier Cuche of Switzerland, whose signed bib was purchased for $16,209.
Another fan paid $8,600 for newly-crowned world cup Super G champion Lindsey Vonn’s winning bib from Cortina.
Brydon completed her final world cup race ahead of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics last weekend, finishing ninth in the Super-G at St Moritz, Switzerland on Friday and 21st in the downhill race on Saturday.
The results put her in 22nd place overall – making her the top Canadian skier.
Brydon and the rest of the women’s Alpine Ski Team are now heading back to Canada for a few days rest, followed by intensive training before their first practice runs in Whistler on Feb. 12.
