Isabella Dicken Elementary School student Ethan McRae joins sporty scientist 'Stephano' wearing a wind resistant speed skating suit during a presentation on "Sporty Science" by BC Science World recently at IDES.

Students learned the science behind sport in a recent presentation at Isabella Dicken Elementary School in Fernie.

Sporty Science was a presentation by B.C. Science World to teach the students about science, using their favourite sports as examples.

Principal Dawn Voysey said: “The students learned about the science surrounding the sports of Ski Jumping, Speed Skating and Hockey during a very entertaining and informative one hour presentation.”

Can you guess who the extreme people who came to our school were? They were Science World Vancouver people!

Yesterday Lindsey and Stephano did cool science with us. First, there was a spinning swirl. If you look at it for 30 seconds, Lindsay's head will grow.

My favourite was when she lit a flame by blowing in a tube because it went like 3-2-1 and then fire! I also like when Roxey went flying. Roxey is a rubber chicken.

I hope they come next year.
