Fernie businesses represented at BC Chamber AGM
A board member from the Fernie Chamber of Commerce represented Fernie and the business community at the BC Chamber AGM last weekend.
Dave Hamilton, who is also Publisher of The Free Press, attended the meeting in Penticton and said he was very impressed with how well the BC Chamber is working on behalf of all B.C. business communities.
Over the weekend, the group worked on more than 40 policies for the BC Chamber, including enhancing BC’s export capacity, ‘The Border Pact’, beyond the Border action plan and BC’s carbon tax and five of those policies were presented to the Canadian Chamber for them to act as lobbyists at a federal level (including post secondary education and the need for national coordination.)
“The BC Chamber provincial AGM was very informative and we worked very hard over the four days,” said Hamilton.
“I was fortunate to be able to meet and spend a couple of hours with Premier Christy Clarke, discussing various issues. I also had breakfast with Gloria Macarenko, CBC News Vancouver co-host, and sat in a session with US Consul General Anne Callaghan, regarding the changes for the Canadian US border action plan.”
