Business owners will now be able to find investors with a click of a mouse pad, after the City of Fernie joined the Invest Kootenay project.
The City of Fernie decided to become involved with the project so that current businesses and entrepreneurs with business ideas, would be able to get in touch with investors from all over the world, with an interest in investing in the area.
Cindy Corrigan, Mayor of Fernie, said she thinks Fernie and the surrounding area is very attractive to investors and hopes this project will enable more investment in the community.
“I think there are already good examples in town of new businesses that are flourishing, like Loaf, which won New Business of the Year last year at the Fernie Chamber of Commerce awards,” she said.
“Invest Kootenay will make it easier for other businesses that need some financial backing to be successful.
“We have already had five or six businesses register interest with us. We just have to match them up with a business that suits them.
‘Hopefully we can build some more success stories.”
The Fernie Chamber of Commerce and the City of Fernie web pages have links on them to the Invest Kootenay website.
“If you have a business idea, post it on the website and we will do our best to connect you.”
