Que Sarah comes to Fernie
Modern Renaissance woman, Sarah Calvert, who goes by Que Sarah, is making a stop by The Brickhouse in Fernie on February 18th to play songs from her debut album.
“Other Side” is a mix of folk, blues, jazz, bluegrass and country.
Calvert has been playing music since she was seven years old.
She began pursuing jazz, blues and roots music when she enrolled to the jazz program at Selkirk Music College in Nelson B.C.
Calvert sings accompanied by her own guitar, piano and harmonica.
She is currently on a two month tour across B.C. and Alberta promoting her new album before heading for the Atlantic Provinces in the spring.
Musicians like Suzie Vinnick, Carolyn Mark and Paul White accompany Calvert on various songs on the album.
Calvert describes the songs as reflecting juxtapositions like life and death, depression and joy, grief and redemption, and love and loss.
Calvert used to call Fernie home and said she is looking forward to coming back.
“I lived in Fernie for a season in my ski bum days and have fond memories,” she said.
