Nonstop fun at Wapiti
Trainee ski and snowboard instructors from the Nonstop Adventure program tried out their new teaching skills at Wapiti ski hill in Elkford last weekend.
The students have been training to be instructors for the past five weeks, and have just qualified.
They volunteered at the community ski hill to practice what they have learned in training, and also give others the chance to enjoy free lessons.
“It was a great day for everyone, and a real win-win situation for everyone,” said Dave Richards, Canadian operations director of Nonstop Adventure.
“This is the third year that we have held these Community Days and it has proved very popular with our clients, who feel like they’re giving something back to the community, and with the local residents in the Elk Valley.”
Some of the students are also getting into the community spirit by volunteering as deputies in the run up to the Griz Days festivities.
