Stop! Banner time

Banners2011Majic.jpg

Spring is here, which means a new batch of banners from the seventh annual Banner Project will soon be hung around Fernie.

After many hours of deliberation by this year’s selection committee, 35 banners by a variety of different artists were selected to line Second Avenue this summer.

The banners showcase work by Fernie’s established artists and help the community discover new artists.

This year’s banners will be unveiled at the Banner Project Launch at The Arts Station on Thursday, April 14 at 7 p.m.

The banners will hang along Second Avenue for a year. For the second year, they will line Highway 3.

At the launch, people will have the opportunity to sponsor a banner for $100, and after the two years they are displayed around the community, the sponsor will be able to keep the banner.

For more information on this year’s Banner Project contact Courtney Baker at 250-423-4842 or Pat MacKay at 250-423-4132.
