The Manager of the Sparwood Chamber of Commerce has left his position after just three months in the job.

Michael Decker is now working as campaign manager for David Wilks who is campaigning as the Conservative candidate in the upcoming federal election.

Decker told The Free Press he is unable to comment on his dismissal from his position at the Chamber. “I don’t want to talk about it at the moment,” he said. “I am just completely focused on my campaign and it is still being worked on.”

The President of the Sparwood Chamber of Commerce board, John Baher, said he is also not able to comment on the details of Decker’s departure at this time.

“I am unable to make a comment but the board will be making a press release in the near future.

“All I can say is that Michael Decker is no longer manager of the Sparwood Chamber of Commerce. We are looking for a new manager and in the meantime Norma McDougall will hold the position.”

In a letter to the editor last week, Sparwood chamber member, Bobby Hutchinson, wrote voicing her opposition to the board’s decision to fire Decker.
