Cravings satisfied with a Taste of Sparwood
The kickoff to B.C. Arts and Culture week in Sparwood began with the Taste of Sparwood, a mix of food and beverage sampling, a bake sale and fundraisers.
Vendors who provided samples of food and drinks were Blue Collar Coffee brewing custom roasted coffee, Le Grande Fromage from Fernie providing samples of fine cheese, The Candy Wrapper with tables full of candy and treats and The Stanford Inn, also from Fernie, cooking flavourful Indian cuisine. Members of the Sparwood Water Spray Park Committee were selling 50/50 tickets, hotdogs, chips and pop to raise money for the Spray Park.
The Sparwood Secondary School grad class had items displayed for their silent auction and a table filled with homemade baking they were selling to fundraise for their graduation.
Another table set up at the event was from the Sparwood Baptist Church, where children of all ages were delighted to get their faces painted by Sue Hanlon, a brilliant local artist, or to pick up some cotton candy or nachos with all donations being made to the Japanese Tsunami victims.
The Taste of Sparwood was well attended, and crowds especially enjoyed the live music from Common Soul, a talented local band.
Whether it be for food or fundraising, the Taste Of Sparwood was a great beginning to B.C’s 2011 Arts and Culture week.
