Come out for Food Bank drive
On Saturday, November 12, the communities of the South Country including Elko, Grasmere, Jaffray, Baynes Lake, Newgate and Wardner will be holding an annual Food Bank Drive starting at 10 a.m. Volunteers will be asking families of the South Country to donate food items for the local food banks.
The drive has been enlarged this year to include all of the communities of the South Country. Previously it was held only in Jaffray. This year, all food items donated will be delivered to the Cranbrook Food Bank.
The Food Bank Drive has been organized by Teri Lynn Sheridan of Jaffray, but she also has co-ordinators in all the South County communities. These other co-ordinators include Saran Press of Baynes Lake, Angela Jones of Wardner, Marla Jones of Jaffray, Michelle Wilson of Elko, and Heather Serafini of Grasmere.
Volunteers will be going door-to-door collecting items, but they can also be left at the Jaffray Sports Shop and the Jaffray Pump and Pantry on Highway 3 in Jaffray.
