Black Rock News begins first annual Business Holiday Challenge

For most of us the holidays are a time to look forward to. Shopping, gifts, big meals and families spending time together is what first comes to mind for most. For others, that picture may not always be what the Holiday season is all about.

Some families in our community go through struggles during this season, with the everyday cost of life coupled with gifts and dinners the financial burden can be big and difficult to overcome. Luckily, in  Sparwood and Elkford we have measures in place to assist those that have struggles this time of year. The Food Banks, Toys for Tots and The Angel Trees are very well known and successful at making sure there is food on all tables and or a children with gifts.

Here, at Black Rock News we feel that although these programs are already successful, we would like to make this year better than ever. We are for the first time beginning a Business Holiday Challenge. Black Rock News would like to challenge every business in Sparwood and Elkford to make a minimum $200 donation to the Food Bank or Gift Program in Sparwood or Elkford. Business owners making a donation may go to the Sparwood or Elkford Food Bank, or call or email Jenna Jensen at 250.425.4475 or blackrocknews@thefreepress.ca to pick up your donation.  At the time of your donation, your business contact information will be taken as we look forward to taking pictures and speaking with participating businesses. Also, for those who participate we will be doing a draw for a six week business card campaign in Black Rock News for one lucky business. As well, Elk Valley Photography is  providing one draw for a commercial photo session allowing one lucky business to have numerous photographs of their business for promotional marketing, websites and social media use!

Our goal is to get our community businesses completely involved and alleviate any struggle local families may have this time of year. We believe the best part of the holidays is creating smiles, we hope you will join us.
