On December 6, the team at Elkford Fire Rescue participated in the 'Big Honking Head Shave' to raise money for cancer research.

Fire Chief Bernie Van Tighem and Deputy Chief Corey Kortmeyer were joined by Elov Simmons, Kalon Kliment, Harvey MacPherson, Neil Hawthorne and Sheldon Thiel in colouring their hair pink before taking the plunge and shaving it all off.

The team collectively raised approximately $4500, which was the second highest amount of any team in British Columbia. Van Tighem also achieved the second highest individual amount in the province.
