South Country
•Two black bears were seen on a residential property on Highway 93 in Grasmere in an area with berry bushes.
Fernie
•A grizzly bear was seen in a residential yard on Harley Creek Road.
•Mountain bikers encountered a black bear half way down the hill between Anderson Rd and Highway 3. The bear was on the side of the road. It ran off into the bushes when the dog barked at the bear.
•A black bear was seen on the trail along Highway 3 between the Stanford Inn and the Super 8 motel.
•A small black bear has been seen passing through backyards that back onto Mount Fernie on Alpine Trails.
A reminder to weekend visitors and residents who may not be around on garbage collection day that garbage can be disposed of at the communal dumpsters at the Fernie Chamber of Commerce on Highway 3 as you leave town or taken to the transfer station.
