On Saturday, March 11, Knox on 2nd will host former Canadian Idol winner Theo Tams and Zenon for a musical evening.
Fernie Pride is the presenting sponsor for this concert, which they promise will be an intimate night of soulful, piano-laden R&B.
Theo Tams is a former Canadian Idol winner making the trek from Toronto to play a stripped-down performance at the Knox, highlighting his songwriting, piano prowess and wide-ranging powerhouse vocals.
Tams struggled to find his place in the world. Originally from Coaldale, Alberta, he grew up in a fairly strict reformed Christian household. “I had a great childhood,” he says. “I’m still really close with my family.” Coming out as queer proved rocky for Tams at first, and then soon after, he won Canadian Idol. Tams issued his debut album, Give It All Away, in 2009 on Sony Music Canada. Tam’s latest release, Trilogy V, will drop later this year and demonstrates his growth as a songwriter, vocalist, and human being.
Zenon is a bi-racial, non-binary singer/songwriter from Calgary, forging their path in R&B with sultry tones of jazz, urban hooks and intentional use of space, creating a musical landscape entirely their own. Zenon’s debut album, GENRE Z, was nominated in multiple categories at the 2023 YYC Music Awards and in the R&B/Soul category at the Western Canadian Music Awards.
