Giv’Er Shirt Works is giving back to the community by donating 50 tee shirts to a deserving non-profit group or charity.

“This is our way of saying thanks for making Fernie awesome,” said Giv’Er Shirt Works account manager Andy Coe. “We want to give back to those who have helped out our community.”

To decide which group is most deserving of the shirts, the Fernie-based company is asking interested parties to submit short blurbs of 25-words or less on why they deserve the shirts with an emphasis on what they do for the community.

For two-years running, Giv’Er Shirt Works has made an annual donation of 100 tee shirts to the Fernie Mountain Biking Club but this year they wanted to spread the wealth to other groups in the valley.

The company will now be doing a bi-annual donation of 50 tee shirts to different non-profits and charities, said Coe.

“We wanted to open it up but we weren’t sure how,” she said. “So we decided, what better way than a competition?”

Submissions are being accepted from May 1 to 31. Giv’Er’s crew of 10 staff will be voting on the winner and will announce their decision on June 1.

The winning group will get the tee shirts in the colour of their choice and will be allowed to choose whatever they want written on the front of the shirts. The text can be printed in a maximum of two colours. Additional colours, fonts or designs will cost extra.

To enter the contest, participants can pick up an entry form at the Giv’Er Shirt Works retail store on 2nd Avenue or they can simply send a 25-word essay to info@givershirts.com
