At its essence, Griz Days are a celebration of winter sports and all the Elk Valley has to offer.

And according to senior members of the Fernie Golf Club, golf is a winter sport.

The Fernie Golf Club has held the Grizzly Golf event as a satellite event of Griz Days on the Saturday, since 2019 although one year was skipped during COVID. This year the date is Saturday, March 2 from 930 to 3 p.m at the Fernie Golf Course.

The 6-hole layout is close to the clubhouse and will take less than an hour to complete. You can bring your own golf clubs (2 max) or use the ones provided. Snow ‘golf balls’ are supplied. The golf balls are actually used tennis balls. You don’t have to keep score, but if you do, there is a 9-hole pass for best score - Male, Female, Youth. Plus, a chipping contest with real balls- hit the target - get a 9-hole pass.

In addition, each participant, 16+, receives a 9-hole 2024 Summer Green Fee pass.

Cost is by donation and the senior golf leagues have chosen to support the Food Bank. Last year the event raised over $800, which was split between the Food Bank and Cycling Without age. There were over 100 participants last year and organizers hope for the same crowd this year.
