Northern gets ready to party

Northern6.jpg

The opening for the Northern is less than a week away and the opening weekend is shaping up to be a great event.

Calgary rockabilly band the Smokin’ 45s will be playing at the official opening on Friday June 3 night.

The Smokin’ 45s are a three-piece rock and roll act that focuses on the country side of the rockabilly genre.

They are true country rockers incorporating gunfighters and heartbreak to drug addiction into their songs.

The Smokin’ 45s are a party band that appeals to all kinds of music fans.

Audio/Rocketry from Edmonton will be playing on Saturday night.

They’ve been described as punk/folk music.

Front man for Audio/Rocketry, Joe Vickers has incorporated his love for American singer-song writer Woody Guthrie into their songs.

Audio/Rocketry meshes punk’s youthful sensibilities with the hard-working, blue-collar approach of old-time folk.
