Man arrested following Lake Koocanusa stabbing
A 26-year-old Calgary man is in custody after stabbing two people in the Umbrella Beach area of Koocanusa Lake early Sunday morning.
Justin Scott was charged with multiple assault with weapons charges and appeared in Cranbrook Provincial Court on May 24.
Cranbrook RCMP said in a news release that two people from one campsite confronted a group of people from another campsite.
One of the suspects stabbed two people and fled in a white Land Rover.
RCMP from both the Cranbrook and Elk Valley detachments responded immediately.
They established a perimeter to prevent suspects from leaving the area.
The two victims were taken to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital for treatment.
One victim was released the same day while the other victim remains in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Both suspect and victims were from Alberta but were not known to each other.
Scott is remanded in custody until June 27 when he will appear again in Cranbrook Provincial Court.
