Congratulations Sparwood grads
The theme for Sparwood Secondary School’s 2011 graduation was “Where it all begins.”
With the gym adorned in Egyptian inspired decorations, friends and family gathered to celebrate this very special day.
“Dawn Morgan and Arlene Punk, with the help of many dedicated volunteers did an astounding job decorating the gym,” said Fran Kellington, SSS Vice-Principal. “Our gym looked beautiful, the graduates were well behaved and the grad ceremonies were very successful.”
One of the most notable and proud moments was when Principal, Jason Tichauer said that approximately half of the graduating students on stage were also on the honour roll. “This is big, and something to be very proud of,” Tichauer told students.
Grads celebrated in traditional style with a procession, presentation of diplomas, scholarships and bursaries and the long standing custom of the grand march.
The grand march is a choreographed march done after all of the formal ceremonies, by all of the grad students who are dressed in untraditional and fun attire. This part of the graduation ceremony is one of the most anticipated by students and with the dedicated help of teacher, Chris Chala, it is always one of the most memorable moments for graduates.
We would like to congratulate all of the Sparwood Secondary School graduates and wish you all the best in your future endeavours.
