Driver in hospital after roll over

A 22-year-old man from Calgary is in a serious condition in hospital after the car he was driving rolled over near Sparwood on Monday morning.

The RCMP were called to the scene of the incident about 10 km east of Sparwood at 6 a.m. Monday.

A single vehicle had left the road and rolled into the ditch on the north side of the highway.   Emergency service crews were needed to extract the driver from his vehicle. STARS air ambulance was then called in to air lift the driver to a Calgary hospital where he is recovering from serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver was the lone occupant in the vehicle at the time of the accident. A Southeast District Accident Analyst has been called in to assist with the investigation. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined as the investigation continues.
