RCMP REPORT
Tuesday, June 21
• In Sparwood at 1:15 a.m. there was an abandoned 911 call.
• In Fernie at 6 a.m. there were about six cars driving erratically, honking and making a lot of noise.
• In Sparwood at 6:05 a.m. there was a report of an assault that happened the day before. The assault happened between two individuals known to each other.
• In Sparwood at 9:29 a.m. there was a false residential alarm.
• In Sparwood at 10:11 a.m. a firearm was turned into the RCMP for destruction.
• In Elkford at 10:20 a.m. there was a verbal disturbance between two individuals known to each other.
• In Fernie at 10:25 a.m. there was a theft from a vehicle. A wallet and some other personal items were stolen.
• In Hosmer at 11:21 a.m. there was a family disturbance involving verbal threats.
• In Galloway at 2:18 p.m. there was an erratic driver. The caller was cut off by a white tanker and forced into the ditch.
• In Fernie at 6:35 p.m. there was a prohibited driver.
• In Sparwood at 8:59 p.m. there were dirt bikes driving around a residential area.
• In Fernie at 11:25 p.m. a concerned individual called the RCMP about a dog.
Wednesday, June 22
• In Elkford at 12:11 p.m. there was a single vehicle roll over. There was one occupant in the car. The individual was issued a 24-hour driving suspension for driving under the influence, and a number of other driving violations were issued.
• In Hosmer at 1:24 p.m. there was a civil dispute over property after a separation.
• In Fernie at 3:14 p.m. there was an abandoned 911 call.
• In Fernie at 3:24 p.m. there were two intoxicated individuals sitting near the train tracks.
• In Fernie at 4:51 p.m. licence plates and decals were lost.
• In Sparwood at 5:17 p.m. there was an erratic driver in a reddish convertible with B.C. plates. The driver was travelling at excessive speeds and driving erratically.
• In Sparwood at 5:55 p.m. the RCMP received a report of the Finning labour strike.
• In Sparwood at 9:12 p.m. there was a domestic dispute.
• In Sparwood at 10:45 p.m. the RCMP received a request for a well-being check. The RCMP attended and all was well.
• In Sparwood at 11:32 p.m. the RCMP received a call from family members in Calgary to check on an individual who was possibly driving to Alberta. The family was concerned for the individual’s well being. The individual was located in the Crowsnest Pass.
Thursday, June 23
• In Spawood at 2:07 a.m. there was a loud party.
• In Fernie at 2:55 a.m. the RCMP arrested an individual after he was reported as possibly being impaired. The driver was also towing an uninsured Air Stream trailer. The vehicles were towed and the individual was issued a 24-hour driving suspension and was issued three other driving violations. Criminal charges are also being considered for obstruction of justice or resisting arrest.
• In Sparwood at 4:14 a.m. there was a single vehicle accident. There was one occupant in the vehicle. The initial RCMP investigation suggested that the accident may have been caused on purpose, and the individual may have been trying to intentionally hurt themselves. The individual was transported to the Elk Valley Hospital and released.
• In Sparwood at 8:41 a.m. two licence plates and decals were lost.
• In Fernie at 8:51 a.m. there was a report of a 14-year-old girl receiving inappropriate phone calls from an older individual.
• In West Fernie at 9:17 a.m. there was a car accident involving an elk. A large elk hit the side of a Fernie Central Reservations van. One individual was taken to Elk Valley Hospital with minor injuries. The elk was dead when the RCMP arrived.
• In Fernie at 11:16 a.m. two bikes were left at a local business.
• In Fernie at 2:36 p.m. an individual drove past a school bus while it’s stoplights were flashing.
• In Sparwood at 3:07 p.m. there was an ATV driving down the Lower Elk Valley Road causing damage to driveways and ditches.
• In Fernie at 3:30 p.m. there was a hit and run. There was minor damage to the vehicle and a suspect vehicle has been identified.
• In Elkford at 3:51 p.m. tools were stolen from Fording River mine.
• In Sparwood at 4:12 p.m. there was a report of an assault that had occurred the previous evening.
Friday, June 24
• In Fernie at 3:27 a.m. there was a loud party at a residence.
• In Fernie at 9:37 a.m. a local business was upset about people parking when they are not supposed to.
• In Elkford at 12:52 p.m. there was a found passport.
• Near the Kikoman Creek area at 5:19 p.m. a three-day driving suspension was issued for impaired driving.
• In Sparwood at 6:18 p.m. there were people riding ATVs through a trailer court.
• In Elkford at 8:06 p.m. there was a request for the RCMP to keep the peace between two individuals known to each other.
• In Sparwood at 9:09 p.m. there was a suspicious vehicle. It was possibly abandoned.
• In Elko at 11:04 p.m. a semi-trailer unit crossed over from the right lane into the left lane hitting a cement barrier. There were no injuries but the individual was taken to the Elk Valley Hospital. The driver was issued a violation ticket for failing to keep right.
Saturday, June 25
.• In Sparwood at 12:20 a.m. there was a report of a possible fight about to break out between a group of teenagers in a park. Patrols were made but the teenagers were not located.
• In Fernie at 1:13 a.m. there were 15 to 20 teenagers walking around being loud.
• In Sparwood at 5:50 a.m. there was a report of a single vehicle accident. The caller said that the vehicle had gone into into the ditch. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.Continued on page 25

Saturday, June 25
• In Fernie at 8 a.m. there was mischief done to the Fernie Golf and Country Club. A vehicle was driven through the golf course causing $3,000 of damage. The RCMP are still investigating.
• In Sparwood at 8:05 a.m. various items were stolen from a vehicle overnight.
• In Sparwood at 8:51 a.m. a cell phone and some other items were stolen from a vehicle.
• In Fernie at 10:07 a.m. flowers and their baskets on a restaurant patio were damaged the night before.
• In Fernie at 10:45 a.m. there were items stolen from a vehicle.
• In Fernie at 12:16 a.m. there was a single vehicle accident involving a deer. There were no injuries.
• In Fernie at 12:51 p.m. a bicycle was stolen.
• In Fernie at 1:04 p.m. the RCMP received a report of a dog that was possibly in distress. The dog was seen on the slanted roof of a house, and appeared to be unable to get down.
• In Sparwood at 1:57 p.m. items were stolen from a vehicle.
• In Fernie at 4:33 p.m. there was a report of possible harassment.
• In Fernie at 5:06 p.m. a bike was stolen.
• In Elkford at 10:52 p.m. a dark pick-up truck was being driven erratically.
• In Roosville at 11:59 p.m. there was a request from Canada border guards to assist with two individuals.
Sunday, June 26
• In Elkford at 12:05 a.m. there was a report of an individual knocking on people’s doors.
• In Fernie at 12:17 a.m. threats were made at a local business.
• In Fernie at 1:05 a.m. there was a fight at a local liquor establishment.
• In Elkford at 2:03 a.m. there were three to four youths walking around, possibly intoxicated, yelling and screaming.
• In Fernie at 2:42 a.m. a three-day driving suspension was issued for impaired driving.
• In Fernie at 2:51 a.m. there was a disturbance between two individuals known to each other.
• In Sparwood at 9:03 a.m. there was a single vehicle accident.
• In Fernie at 12:54 p.m. a bicycle was found.
• In Sparwood at 4:33 p.m. a wallet was reported missing.
• In the South Country at 4:37 p.m. there was a report of damage done to a trailer. It is unknown when the damage was done, but is believed to have occurred over the last month. Windows were broken and a tarp was torn.
• In Elkford at 6:33 p.m. an individual was located after being reported missing out of Calgary. The individual was located at Elk Valley Hospital and a family member from Calgary was going to pick the individual up.
• In Fernie at 10:17 p.m. police officers attended a disturbance involving a child custody dispute.
Monday, June 27
• In Fernie at 1:31 a.m. there was a single vehicle accident on Highway 3 west of the ski hill. The individual was taken to the Elk Valley Hospital for minor injuries and was issued a violation ticket for failing to keep right.
• In Sparwood at 11:49 a.m. a firearm was turned over to the RCMP for destruction.
• In Fernie at 4:25 p.m. an individual was refusing to leave a local business.
• In Fernie at 7:54 p.m. individuals were reportedly standing on a dumpster throwing beer bottles.
• In Fernie at 9:25 p.m. there was a disturbance outside a residence. An individual was taken to the Elk Valley Hospital with self-inflicted injuries. The individual is currently in police custody due to breached court ordered conditions.
