Birthday presents with a difference

shelterbox1.jpg

A little girl’s birthday party was made even more special because she chose to celebrate by helping kids in other countries.

Anja Kuijt had a birthday party a few weeks ago and instead of presents she asked her friends to bring a donation for ShelterBox.

Andre Bloemink from ShelterBox heard about this so he brought a tent so they could spend the night in it and learn what ShelterBox is all about.

They raised about $150 in total.

ShelterBox responds to earthquake, volcano, flood, hurricane, cyclone, tsunami or conflict by delivering boxes of aid.

Each box supplies an extended family with a large tent and lifesaving equipment to use while they are displaced or homeless. The contents are tailored depending on the nature and location of the disaster, with great care taken sourcing every item to ensure it is robust enough to be of lasting value.
