On Thursday August 25th at 9pm; Chris Inglis was riding his Yamaha Vino 125 scooter to Jaffray to get a bite to eat from Koocanusa campsite. Inglis was travelling approximately 80 kilometers per hour on the Baynes lake Jaffray road when he ran into a deer. Inglis says he bounced a few times, then rolled a few times down the pavement, and finally came to a stop about 300-400 meters down the road, as his bike was doing the same in front of him.

Inglis says he was hurt pretty bad and bleeding from everywhere, and then he realized he was laying in the middle of the highway, next to the yellow line, so he thought to himself, he might get ran over by a car or a truck coming around the corner, so he rolled himself onto the shoulder of the highway, and reached in his pocket for his old silver LG TM 520 silver flip phone, and dialed 911, and asked for help.

First responders from Jaffray and Baynes lake were there quickly, as well as a number of locals, and Inglis was rushed to East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH) in Cranbrook by ambulance. “Good thing I had the 15 year old phone because I don’t think the new Blackberry’s or I-PHONE would of survived the crash and worked when I needed it the most” says inglis

Inglis Suffered a mild concussion, injuries to his left arm and shoulder, and road rash in many parts of his body. Luckily, Inglis was wearing a properly fitted helmet as it saved his life. Inglis reminds everyone to “please remember to always be safe and wear your helmets on your peddle bikes or motor bikes.....ALWAYS.”

Inglis is on a long road to recovery but he says he will be back to himself soon. Inglis wants to thank everyone, for their comments, concerns and phone calls, “It helps me heal faster. I think!” says inglis

Inglis adds his wife Jenn has just been awesome as always, looking after him since he got out of the hospital. “I LOVE HER SOOOOOOOOO MUCH, except when she said I don’t know if I should hug you or kick you in the buttock, and I said. IT DOESN’T MATTER......they are both going to hurt the same!!!!!!!!! Says Inglis.
