Fernie Alpine Resort opening early

Fernie Alpine Resort is opening early to celebrate 50 years of skiing and snowboarding.

It will be open on November 26 and 27 for a preview weekend of skiing.

Seven-day a week operations start on Friday December 2, 2011, as planned.

Visit www.skifernie.com/opening for available services and more information.

“This is the season of celebration, a tribute to all who have helped make Fernie a special place to ski for the last 50 years” said spokesman Matt Mosteller.  "With recent huge snowstorms and La Niña forecasted to return this winter, this is the winter to ski Fernie.  Last season Fernie Alpine Resort received 37 feet of snowfall, making it the undisputed leader of snow in the Canadian Rockies and tops in snow in Canada."
