Jaffray house burns down
Crews from both the Jaffray and Baynes Lake Fire Departments responded to a residential house fire on Rosen Lake Road early this morning (Friday).
“The occupant of the home was awakened by his smoke detector, and was able to escape with his dog unharmed,” said Dave Boreen, Chief of the Jaffray and Baynes Lake Fire Departments. “This is a really good example of why it is so important to have, and check, the smoke detectors in your home.”
A total of 13 firefighters from the Jaffray Department, along with three firefighters and a water tender truck from Baynes Lake battled the blaze through the night and remain on scene mopping up and looking for hot spots.
“I am proud of the fast response and efforts of our firefighters. They all did an amazing job of battling the fire and keeping it contained to the single dwelling.”
The house sustained severe damage and will be assessed later today for structural stability. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
