Diamond Jubilee Ceremony to be held this week

David Wilks, Member of Parliament, Kootenay Columbia and Mayor Mary Giuliano of the City of Fernie are pleased to host a Diamond Jubilee Ceremony to present Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medals to four distinguished Fernie Citizens. In keeping with the tradition of honouring Her Majesty’s milestone years of service, this medal has been created to mark the 60th Anniversary of her Majesty’s accession to the throne. The medal serves to honour the contributions and achievements made by Canadians, specifically Fernie citizens, from all sections of our society and community. Prominent Fernie residents will present the medals to ensure that each of their peers receives his or her medal in a dignified and meaningful way. Following the ceremony, there will a photo opportunity and the cutting of a symbolic cake representing Canada.

The recipients for this very prestigious award are Mary Menduk, Fred Gietz, Heiko Socher and Frank Lento.

Wednesday August 22, 11:45 a.m. – Ceremony at 12 Noon

Fernie Court House (North Lawn)
