On September 6th at the Community Information and Registration Night in Sparwood, Sparwood Councilor Joanne Wilton was presented with the Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy Champion for Literacy Award. "I am so honoured and  kind of shocked," said Wilton. "It is such an honour to even be chosen among the other nominees," she said.

The crowd congratulated Wilton and celebrated with coffee and treats. The other nominees for the award were The Fernie Heritage Library and Sandra Summerfield.
