District of Elkford workers reach settlement without striking
The District of Elkford and its municipal workers, CUPE 3004 members, have reached a new four-year collective agreement. “We are pleased to jointly announce that both sides have ratified the new contract for Elkford’s municipal workers,” says Tanis Haugo, CUPE 3004 president, “We believe it is a fair and reasonable agreement for the times.”
Mayor Dean McKerracher is pleased that a settlement was reached without any disruption of services, “Council is pleased to have a four year contract in place and looks forward to working with our employees to continue to provide quality public services for the members of our community.”
The agreement includes modest wage increases in each year of the agreement and improvements to sick leave benefits.
The agreement begins in March 2012 and expires in February, 2016.
