Injured snowmobiler rescued
Fernie Search and Rescue were called on 15 January to assist an injured snowmobiler in the Mount Broadwood area near Elko.
With daylight rapidly failing, two members or SAR were able to load the man into a helicopter and deliver him to BCAS. The man was taken to Fernie hospital with a suspected broken femur.
Rapid deployment and invaluable assistance from Ascent Helicopters in Fernie ensured that the man did not have to be brought out over ground during the night.
