Stan Rey wins Monster Enemy Lines 2014

Photographs by T. Hynd and Nick Nault Photography

Stan Rey crossed the finish line first in the Monster Enemy Lines race for the second year in a row. Twelve skiers had a mass start from the ridge top of the Lizard bowl, racing down the headwall to the base of Fernie Alpine Resort (FAR).

Logan Pehota led the pack as he charged the headwall. Rey saw Pehota about 100 metre's ahead as he came out of Heiko's line. Rey said he tried to get behind Pehota as fast as possible to draft behind him lower down on the slope. Rey just barely came out ahead of Pehota in the tuck finish on sticky snow.

On stage in the FAR plaza, Dan Treadway presented Rey with the big $20,000 cheque for first place.

Congratulations to all of the skiers who competed today and in yesterday's qualifiers!
