A 39-year-old Calgary man is dead after an ATV incident on Friday evening, Kimberly RCMP said in a press release on Monday.

The male was travelling along a utility right of way near Suzie Main Forest Sevice Rd. in the Koocanusa area when he lost control of his vehicle, police said.

They believe the rider was ejected from the ATV, which then rolled on top of him.

A male from Cranbrook also sustained minor injuries, but he was able to perform CPR on the 39-year-old victim until emergency services arrived on scene.

Police said the ATV operators were not wearing proper safety equipment.

The RCMP and the B.C. Coroner’s service are still investigating the incident.
