The BC Conservation Service is seeking answers after a fox was found injured in a leg hold trap, last week in Elkford.

The Conservation Service says the trap was likely set in Elkford with the purpose of trapping gophers, but reminds residents that it is illegal to set any traps in the District. This is a violation under the BC Wildlife Act.

The District of Elkford says there is currently a file open for unlawfully trapping wildlife and is asking for the public’s assistance in reporting any known information about this incident.

Anyone with information can call 1-877-952-7277.
