Rural economic development was the topic at a networking event at 901 Fernie last week.

Many Fernie small business owners, community leaders and those with an interest in rural economic development attended on Thursday evening, and listened to presentations on Invest Kootenay, Kootenay Rockies Innovation Council, Community Futures East Kootenay, the Basin Business Advisors and the key note speaker Dr. Terri MacDonald who is the Rural Innovation Chair.

The presentations detailed free resources for small businesses to start and grow, and succession planning. The evening was well attended and hosted by the Fernie Chamber of Commerce, 901 Fernie and Mezzaluna.
