Fernie Alpine Resort opens for preview weekend

Fernie Alpine Resort will be opening for a preview weekend, this Saturday and Sunday, November 25 to 26. This is a direct result of the resort receiving almost record-breaking amounts of early season snowfall.

In the past seven days, the hill has received 59 centimetres of snowfall.

This weekend is forecast to bring snowfall, and temperatures between a low of -4 and a high of 2 degrees celsius.

The Deer Chair, Elk Chair, Bear Chair, Boom Chair and Haul Back T-Bar will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Guest Services and Ticket Office will open at 8 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. The rental shop will open at 8:30 a.m. and close at 4:30 p.m. The Sports Alpine Retail Shop will be open at the same time as the rental shop.

The Griz Daylodge will open early, at 8 a.m., and close at 4 p.m. The Griz Bar will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the Cirque Restaurant will be open on Friday and Saturday in the evening.

Early season private lessons will be offered at a special rate. Resort Childcare Centre will be open on the weekend, but the resort requests that bookings be made in advance.
