An eagle-eyed resident has helped Elk Valley police nab an alleged burgler.

In the early hours of Saturday, March 17, the alert resident saw a woman allegedly force entry to a hair salon on 2nd Avenue.

The woman was allegedly observed taking numerous items from the business then loading them into a truck.

The witness called 9-1-1 and was able to provide an accurate description of the getaway vehicle, which was quickly spotted by the responding Elk Valley RCMP officers.

The lone female was soon apprehended and the stolen merchandise was located in the truck.

Police said further investigation allegedly revealed the woman had broken into two adjacent businesses.

Break and enter charges are expected to be laid against the woman, who was released from police custody promising to appear in court at a future date.

The Elk Valley RCMP have thanked the witness for reporting the crime in progress and using the 9-1-1 system, which allowed for a speedy response and suspect apprehension.
