Grinch returns stolen ornament to Fernie home

An ornament thief has returned the Christmas deer he stole from outside a Fernie home.

An ornament thief has returned the Christmas deer he stole from outside a Fernie home, following a plea by the family in last week’s Free Press to have it returned.

On the night of December 5, a 5' twinkling LED acrylic deer was stolen from John and Lynda Gawryluk’s house.

Then on December 9, John woke up at 7:15 a.m. to discover the deer had been returned to the Christmas display.

“The Grinch found his heart and did the right thing. The Christmas Spirit is truly alive and well!” said John, whose granddaughter, Hailey, was particularly happy to see the deer back at home.

“The Grinch’s mommy and daddy should be very proud of him for bringing our deer back home,” said Hailey. “His heart got bigger and now he will have a Merry Christmas too!”
