Jaffray and Elko fire departments put out two spot fires on April 24.
Crews discovered the fires next to Highway 3, just east of Wardner Bridge. Seven firefighters and three pieces of equipment were present at the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but Elk Valley and South Country Rural Fire and Rescue state that fires can start easily this time of year with dry fuel laying around from the previous season and moisture-rich vegetation not yet grown.
Residents and motorists are encouraged to keep a look out for signs of fire.
