Bridge washing operation near Fernie. Mainroad file

Highway contractor Mainroad is advising East Kootenay residents that their crews will be out in force as the weather warms, for spring maintenance.

Mainroad Contracting crews will be performing bridge washing, replacing culverts, doing shoulder repairs, paving, and mowing. Be aware that when crews are stopped on the side of the road, they rely on the travelling public to drive with caution and keep them safe. Maintenance vehicles aren’t just snowplows— they’re sweepers, tow trucks, and mowers too.

Mainroad asks that when yo see red, blue or amber flashing lights, slow down and move to an open lane.

Mainroad does try to schedule maintenance activities during off-peak traffic times, but it’s not always possible.
