Some people are more dedicated to bike riding than others.

Josie Howse would be one of them. Josie, who is 11 rode her bike to school every single day of the 21-22 school year as a challenge for herself, riding through rain, snow and shine – putting most of the rest of us to shame.

“It was a challenge, especially in winter when it was -20 degrees,” said Josie.

Starting in fall, she didn’t mean to make a point of it, but soon made a habit of turning down lifts to school and heading out on her bike from home in Fernie no matter what the weather looked like.

“For the first bit of fall I was biking every day … and then I decided to bike every single day. It was more of a challenge for me.

“My dad and mom and sister offered me rides to school but I never went with them. It ended up being really fun.”

Josie, who goes into grade 7 at the Fernie Academy in the next school year said she hoped to keep up her dedication to riding her bike as much as possible for a little while yet.
