The Elk Valley Gets Ready for the Civic Election Race 2011

Communities all over B.C. will head to the polls on Saturday, November 19 to vote in their new mayor and council.

Candidates had until 4 p.m. on Friday, October 14 to submit their nominations. Shortly after, the official list of candidates was released by election officers Leanne Jensen and Lee-Ann Crane.

In Fernie, there are ten candidates for council and two candidates for mayor. In Sparwood ten candidates for council and three candidates for mayor, In Elkford there are only six candidates for council and one for candidate for mayor so as of October 24th they will be Officially Elected. This will be the same for 4 School Trustees as well as the Regional Director Area B Candidate as they only recieved one Nomination. Regional District Area A did however have 2 candidates running that seat.

In Fernie and Sparwood there's plenty of competiton for the six seats on council and for Mayor.
