Lois Halko has just been officially announced Mayor of Sparwood.

Lois Halko has just been officially announced Mayor of Sparwood. Most notably, she won with 583  votes, and  also Sparwood’s first ever, female Mayor. On the night of November 19 Halko was surrounded by friends and her campaign manager Michael Decker celebrating her success. “I feel absolutely wonderful having so much support from the electorate of Sparwood,” says Halko. “It is my honour and pleasure to be able to serve as Mayor for the next three years. I congratulate all of the candidates who put  their names forward to serve in the role of elected office,” she says. Halko credits her successful campaign to a strong team effort and dedicated volunteers. “I think we ran a perfect campaign,” says Decker. “We took advantage of social media, people going door to door and making phone calls. Lois had spoken with all seniors groups and did an amazing job at the forum,” he says.
