With loved ones at his bedside, 78-year-old Eamonn Patrick Egan passed away on June 11, 2017 following a long, hard fought battle with cancer. Eamonn was born March 28, 1939 in Mallow Cork, Ireland, the second of six boys born to Edmund and Catherine Egan.

When Eamonn met June, it was love at first sight! A short eight months later the happy couple exchanged wedding vows and began their journey through life together. By the time they immigrated to Canada in 1973, the Egan’s had completed their family with the arrival of 3 children: Eamonn, Bernie, and Tony. Eamonn began working underground for Kaiser Resources, and by the time he retired from his mining career in 2004, he’d been working in the Lab at Teck’s Elkview Operation.

A quiet but friendly man, one of Eamonn’s greatest passions – aside from his family - was golf. He was truly an addict! If he wasn’t on the course playing it – he was watching it on the television. Together Eamonn and June successfully organized the Sparwood Senior’s Golf Tournament for many years. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be very dearly missed.

Eamonn is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, June Egan and their children: Eamonn (Lynda) Egan, Bernie (Kevin) Podrasky, and Tony (Charlene) Egan, and grandchildren Kayla, Connor and Olivia as well as 5 brothers and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Edmund and Catherine.

Respecting Eamonn’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.

The Egan family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the Doctors and nursing staff at both the Lethbridge Regional Hospital and the Elk Valley Hospital for the care and attention given to Eamonn while he was in your care.
