On Sunday, June 25, 2017, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Marie Sheppard, passed away at the age of 63 years.

Ellen Marie Wade was born in St. Catharine’s, ON to parents Stanley and Phyllis on September 22, 1953. Raised and educated in Ontario, Marie graduated from St. Catharine’s Collegiate High School. In March of 1986 she moved to Delburne, AB and it was there, in September 1987, that good friends introduced her to her “Prince Charming”, David Sheppard. They married in May of 1988, and David readily took on the role of stepdad to Marie’s six children.

Marie was a “Domestic Engineer”, who worked at supporting and nurturing her children and keeping house. She loved to knit, enjoyed tending her plants, and caring for her pets. A very proud grandmother, Marie was always ready to share the most recent photos of her grandchildren with visitors.

David and Marie were happily married and rarely spent time apart, residing at their home in Elkford.

Marie is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, David Sheppard, 3 daughters: Maye (Mike) Fizer, Amy Barratt, and Kathy Sheppard, 2 sons: Mike Sheppard and Ron Klenot (Ashlee Foran), and 13 precious grandchildren: Jessica, Geordin, Marley, Chelsie, Brayden, Alan, Hannah, Sammi, Daniel, Izabelle, Izack, Charlez and Tyler, as well as a greatly anticipated future great granddaughter. Also left to mourn her passing are brothers George and Tom, sisters Helen and Lorraine, her brother-in-law Bill (Myrna) Sheppard, nephew Craig (Amy) and niece Carrie (Mike), as well as many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her daughter April Cowan, her sister Jackie, and 2 grandchildren: Alysa and Nathanael.

A Memorial Service was held at Cherished Memories “Serenity Chapel” on Monday, July 3rd with Pastor Shawn Barden of the Mountainside Community Church officiating.

Should friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Marie’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
