Evelyn Mitchell, beloved mother, grandmother, sister & friend, passed away on September 16, 2016 at the age of 84.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Darrel (Laurie), Allan (Julie), Gary (Esther), Kevin (Lori), Margaret, and Doug (Nicky), grandchildren: Devon, Chelsea, Chloe, Dylan (Ashlyn), Michelle, Kaitlyn (Jayson), Brittany, Nicholas, and Logan, great granddaughters Aria and Lucille, sisters Marlene (Ron) Simmons and Dorothy (Clifford) Scholey, and her lifelong best friend Shirley Ashmore as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Irvin, her grandson Daniel Mitchell, and six of her eight siblings.
Evelyn was born in 1931 to Ruby and Charlie Tall in Bowsman, MB, the fifth of nine children. She worked as a school teacher for a year, then moved to the Pas, MB where she completed her training as an x-ray technician before moving to Fernie in 1952. Evelyn worked at the Fernie Hospital for 44 years until she retired in 1996.
In 1954 she married her husband Irvin and together raised a family of six children. She loved to have a good time, she curled and played ball, and watched her sons in all of their sporting activities. She travelled with her friends and enjoyed her grandchildren, and most recently her great granddaughters.
