With our deepest sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Frank Meadows. Frank passed away July 12, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

The world was blessed July 15 1953 when Frank entered this world in Swan River, Manitoba. Straight out of high school, Frank moved to Sparwood, BC where he started his career as a welder for Kaiser Resources, which later became Teck Coal Elkview Operations. Frank was dedicated and worked hard, and received the position of Welding Maintenance Supervisor for the plant at Teck Coal. Frank held this position until his health forced him into early retirement.

Frank had a love for country music that lead him into becoming a musician. Frank recorded a song in Nashville, and performed some of his songs on the Timmy’s Telethon, and local pubs to share his love of music.

Frank’s love for music was nowhere near his love for his family and friends. He involved himself in community sports, from coaching hockey to receiving his black belt in Taekwondo that took him to the Western Canadian Championships.

Frank helped establish the Elk Valley Greenhouses by building the structures from the ground up. Everything that Frank did was for the love of family and friends, and of course his dogs.

Frank had a great sense of humour and had his way of making every second spent with him feel special. Frank loved camping, quading, snowmobiling, strumming and singing with his guitar, to woodworking and being with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

In the fall of 2010, Frank was diagnosed with Dementia. Frank fought this horrible disease with his courage and strength, with his beloved wife Glenda by his side. Glenda stayed with him through every step of the way.

Frank sadly leaves behind his loving wife Glenda; his children: Lorne, Dodi (Blair), Tina (Shamus), and Charlie (Ashley); his stepchildren: Jason (Lindy), Mindy (Matt), and Amanda (Chris); his grandchildren: Emmerson, Savhanna, Seirra, Kaylie, Michael, Braden, Chance, Shale, Devon, Matthew, Austin, James, Hailey, Brittany (Danny), Bradley, Kalyb, Korbyn, and great grandson Zephryn. He is also survived by brothers Charlie, Walter (Fern), Clifford, William (Nancy), David (Marion), his sister Jean, and numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was predeceased by his father Percy William Meadows, his mother Emma Meadows, and brother Derek Meadows.

We will all keep Frank’s smile and laughter in our memory, remembering and honouring this great Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, and Friend.
