Gord Demaniuk passed away in Fernie, BC on September 15, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He is survived by his loving wife Nancy, mother Edna, sons Jeff (Erin) and Adam, brother Rick, sisters- in-law Susan (Alan),

Barb (Bob) and Cathy (Wade), brother in-law Doug (Fine), nieces Alison, Andi and Kate, nephews Blair, Eric and Evan. He was predeceased by his father Richard.

Gord was born on June 17, 1952 in Saskatoon, SK where he spent most of his formative years. After graduating with his Bachelor of Science from the University of Saskatchewan in 1974, he started his first job in brewing with Carling O’Keefe in Saskatoon. In 1978, he moved on to the Molson brewery in Edmonton where he spent the next 12 years. He then relocated to Prince Albert, SK, Canmore, AB, Strathmore, AB and St. Albert, AB before moving to Fernie in 2011 to be the brewmaster of the Fernie Brewing Company. He had many different careers, but brewing was always his passion and he was proud of everything that he accomplished in that field.

His other interests included cars, skiing and art. He was a kind, caring and hard working man who loved his friends and family.

A memorial service for Gord is planned for September 24, 2016 in Fernie at 3:30 pm at Cherished Memories (891 4th Avenue), followed by a reception at the Fernie Brewing Company

(26 Manitou Road).
