Gordon Kendall

1932 - 2016 

Gordon Kendall of Cranbrook passed away peacefully at East Kootenay Regional Hospital on Thursday, May 12, 2016.

Gordon was born on August 6, 1932 in Raymond, Alberta to Martin and Mary Kendall. He spent most of his Youth in the Baynes Lake area. Gordon met Katherine Kehler in Fernie, and they were married in Cranbrook in 1955. Together they raised their three children Theresa, Randolph, and Richard in Fernie. Gordon was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing, both as a young man and as an adult.

They settled in Fernie where he worked as a logger for many years. In his 40’s he went to work for the department of highways in Sparwood where he remained until retirement. Gordon enjoyed working in his shop and was talented at fixing almost anything. In 2001 Gordon moved to Cranbrook where he enjoyed going for walks with his dog and visiting with others along the route, and at times going for coffee with them. 

Gordon was predeceased by his wife Katherine in 1993, and by his brother Terril and his mother and father. He is survived by his daughter Theresa (Terence) Lowe, 2 sons Randolph (Mary) Kendall and Richard Kendall, 2 grandchildren Tanya Lowe and Stephanie Lowe, four great-grandchildren Aaron, Ryan, Mikah, and Abby. He is also survived by his brother Clifford Kendall, and by his sister Nettie Wasiewicz. 

Interment will take place at a later date at St. Margaret’s Cemetery in Fernie.
