Iris Shirley McPeek

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful mother, wife, and grandmother, Iris McPeek. After a short but courageous battle with her compromised health, Iris passed away on May 3rd, 2017 at the Elk Valley Hospital in Fernie, BC with loved ones by her side.
Iris was born on March 7th, 1936 in Coronach, Saskatchewan. She was the third of four children to parents William and
Harriet Thurlow.
On November 8th, 1957, Iris married Earl McPeek and they were blessed with five daughters over the course of their life together. The family relocated to several places throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan and finally settled in Fernie, BC in the summer of 1971. Iris had a great passion for gardening but her greatest joy was from her grandchildren and great grandchildren - she loved them dearly.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her memory include her loving husband of nearly of 60 years, Earl McPeek of Fernie, BC; her daughters, Kim (Len) Serwatkewich, Brenda (Bill Hunter) Wagner, Sonia McPeek, Shelley (Darren) Hornquist and Angela (Tim) Campbell; her brother, Russell (Donna) Thurlow; her sister, Marion Clark; her beloved grandchildren, Jean-Paul, Alisha, Jennifer, James, Lee, Chantal, Deanne, Brock, Erika, Loralyn and Laryssa; her great grandchildren, Emersynn, Carter, Jayden, Parker and Autumn, and all her extended family and friends that she made throughout her life time.
Iris was predeceased by her parents, William and Harriet Thurlow; her brother, and her great granddaughter, Camrynn.
With respect for Iris’s final wishes, no funeral service will
be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elk
Valley Hospital Foundation, (1501-5th Avenue Fernie,
