Josephine Anne (JoAnne) was the youngest of seven children born to George and Anna Kusnir in Fernie, B.C. on March 21, 1944 and heralded in the spring. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Anna, her brother, Paul, George Jr. (Bing), John and Michael; her sister Anne and nephew Lorne Menduk. She is survived by her sister Mary Menduk, sister-in-law Robina (Michael), 11 nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and 3 wonderful great, great nieces.

JoAnne had two great loves – music and teaching. She loved to play the piano and listen to most any genre of music. There was always music in her home, no matter where she lived. She taught in Dawson Creek, Michel/Natal, Creston and finally Fernie at C.L. Salvador School. Upon her retirement from her teaching career, she made a bold move to Lethbridge, to enjoy the chinooks and mild weather.

She found that she needed something more in her retirement and became involved with the Lethbridge Public Library as a volunteer in their Read-On Program and became a tutor for the English as a Second Language Program. Again her passion for teaching became evident and her many students over the years remember her fondly.

A celebration of life is being held on October 1, 2016 at Cherished Memories “Serenity Chapel” at 11:00 am. At JoAnne’s request, no flowers. Instead make a donation to the charity of your choice in her name.
